Please trim dead branches up to 6 feet from the ground.&nbsp;</p><p class="">Please make sure 2-10 foot benches have been ordered for the basketball court. If we need to approve additional funds for an additional bench please add to next months agenda if not already ordered.</p><p class="">Pickleball court-The tiles have a 5 year unconditional warranty. The company will be coming out to replace broken tiles and tiles with divots and fix the tiles that paint is wearing off. The company will be filing a claim with the manufacturer for the tiles that are discolored and stated they would come power wash the court in the spring to remove sand/dirt/rocks.</p><p class="">Alliant Tree Grant program</p><p class="">Grant was submitted by November 1st deadline. Volunteer information and proposed amount of trees needed by November 1st submission deadline.&nbsp; Comments also shared regarding historical tree plantings and associated effort and organization of volunteers.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p><p class="">General equipment/grounds/maintenance</p><p class="">Comment regarding park bench replacement plan.&nbsp; Once the on-order benches arrive one to be placed now at the basketball court, and the other to replace the old bench at the City Park that will be removed.</p><p class="">Lines on the plastic pickle ball tiles are wearing off, and there are a couple of tiles that have chips missing and require replacement - Lane to contact vendor regarding possible warranty replacement.</p><p class="">Citizen Comments:&nbsp;</p><p class="">Question raised regarding propriety of active Parks Board members and Fun Days Committee members being participants in fund raising events with prizes or prize money involved.&nbsp;</p><p class="">Still some areas noted where grading of soil to the edge of the concrete could be improved around pickle ball court.</p><p class="">&nbsp;</p><p class="">Move to adjourn by Lane, seconded by Herbert.&nbsp; Miner, Hebert, Heber, Lane, and Davis present.</p><p class="">&nbsp;</p><p class="">Motion to approve August 2023 minutes by Hebert, seconded by Lane.&nbsp; Approved unanimous.</p><p class="">&nbsp;</p><p class="">Halloween party - discussion included inventory of existing supplies.</p><p class="">&nbsp;</p><p class="">Walford Fun Days - Next event is scheduled for September 23.&nbsp; Report by Heber regarding Back to School Bash.&nbsp; Positive feedback from attendees.&nbsp; Free coffee provided by Grind Coffee.&nbsp; Would like to improve signage/advertising to build attendance at future events.&nbsp; Train parked and idling on the tracks did interrupt the yoga slightly.&nbsp; October event planned with the Lutheran church, and tentative plans for an event in November as well.</p><p class="">&nbsp;</p><p class="">General equipment/grounds/maintenance</p><p class="">Dead ash tree and stump has now been removed.</p><p class="">Additional grading required around pickle ball court and basketball court.</p><p class="">Bench near the toddler swing in the City Park has been observed to be unsteady and unsafe, and requires warning tape until/or removal.</p><p class="">Main park picnic table paint is coming off and requires repainting.</p><p class="">Tree in SE corner of Knapp Creek park requires trimming as it is encroaching into private residents' yards.</p><p class="">&nbsp;</p><p class="">Citizen comments</p><p class="">Question regarding rental and insurance and the possibility of waiving the deposit on the rental, and if a blanket deposit/rental agreement could be made for a longer period of time.</p><p class="">Question regarding garbage and the verbiage on the dumpster that indicates cardboard is not to go into the dumpster.&nbsp; Does this mean the refuse company can provide a recycling container if the verbiage on the dumpster is correct?</p><p class="">A citizen engaged a city maintenance staff person regarding weeds that were growing around the pickle ball court and was told by the maintenance person to contact the Parks and Rec Board.</p><p class="">Citizens asked if the Parks and Rec board has a 3 year plan for growth or replacement across the city parks assets, and would like to have some public visibility to the projects that may be planned for the 3 year period.</p><p class="">Citizen asked if city has a grant writer or knowledge of potentially available grants that could provide project funding.</p><p class="">Suggestion to consider a small awning if any further actions regarding Pickle Ball court additions occurs in the future.</p><p class="">&nbsp;</p><p class="">Motion to adjourn by Miner. Davis and&nbsp;Miner absent&nbsp;</p><p class="">Motion by Lane to approve April minutes, seconded by Primmer.&nbsp; Approved unanimous.</p><p class="">Motion by Lane to approve Lease of concession stand to Pam Beatty for 2023 Baseball Season, seconded by Primmer. Approved unanimously.</p><p class="">All Equipment has been ordered, baseball, chalk, uniforms and should be good for the season.&nbsp;</p><p class="">General Equipment/Grounds/Maintenance - Baseball diamonds need tall grass trimmed around all fencing.&nbsp;</p><p class="">Basketball&nbsp;and Pickleball court still needs to be backfilled with&nbsp;dirt and seeded. Request this be done as soon as possible before it gets too hot and grass seed won't take.&nbsp;</p><p class="">Request Pickleball court bench be installed as soon as possible so the Pickleball league can utilize the bench.&nbsp;</p><p class="">Citizen comments - Question regarding other Iowa Valley League town teams, Little League and Pony League regarding teams.</p><p class="">Paper that the baseball sign-up was printed on was very dark, suggest lighter paper color so can be more easily read and copied.</p><p class="">Suggestion offered to consider outdoor exercise equipment stations around the walking trail.&nbsp;</p><p class="">Walford Fun Days.
